JANUARY 2001
With the college hockey season in full swing, sportsWIRE opened a new site, "hockeyEAST Wire". It featured game coverage of Merrimack, UMass Lowell, UNH, Maine, BC, and Providence.
Another hockey site was developed for Beverly High School's varsity Panther Hockey program as "sportsWIRE BHS" was a hit with community hockey fans. sportsWIRE focused mainly on high school and college hockey during the first two months of the new year.
sportsWIRE intoduced a season-long hockey poll focusing on the statistics of selected games from the hockey season.

FEBRUARY 2001
sportsWIRE continued it's hockey coverage by covering it's thrid NHL All-Star Weekend on the sportsWIRE wireWEB. The coverage included updates throughout the evening of the skills competition as well as full scoring coverage from the sunday afternoon game. The All-Star Hockey Page also featured news from other hockey All-Star games before and after the NHL's.
Other notable moments from february included the coverage of the inaugural XFL football season, and the conclusion of the third annual fan voting awards.

MARCH 2001
Once again, college sports reigned supreme during the month of March and hockey was the dominant sport as sportsWIRE's coverage of this year's Hockey East tournament excelled those of the previous two years. hockeyEAST Wire's tournament pages covered the two-night tournament from the FleetCenter with extensive coverge of the event.
sportsWIRE was also on hand to watch their neighbors at Danvers High varsity hockey win the 2001 MIAA Division II State Tournament on the third day of "threeAT theFLEET", marking three days of back-to-back-to-back college and high school hockey.
March also marked the expansion of the BRHL into the "Eastern Massachusetts Roller Hockey League"; and so sportsWIRE's roller hockey page expanded as well. A new site, "www.rollerhockeywire.freeservers.com", was added to accomdate future roller hockey coverage.
Not only did the roller hockey page expand, but the network name expanded from "wireMEDIA" to "wireMEDIA/sportsWIRE". "We added the name that people were familiar with." said wireMEDIA/sportsWIRE president, Mike Gastonguay. This was an especially good month for mikeyG as he was accpted into Emerson College in Boston to study communications. It was then that he would close wireMEDIA/sportsWIRE over the summer to work on new projects. "There's a possibility that this will only be a hiatus for the network" Gastonguay responded. "I'd just like to get situated into college life and leave my options open".

APRIL 2001
April was no less hectic than March was. The month opened with coverage of WRESTLEMANIA X7 at the wrestleMEDIA site. They provided all-day coverage of the event included semi-real time updates throughout the evening's event.
The following weekend with filled with hockey action as the 2001 NCAA FROZEN FOUR took place. This event introduced "mikeyG's Notebook", a scanned sheet of game notes from the sportsWIRE president.
More from mikeyG included a new page called speakOUT. He used this page to address rumors and news concerning wireMEDIA/sportsWIRE. The idea for the page came during his visit to Emerson College. The following weekend, he went to New York for Red Sox/Yankees baseball game which was promoted by sportsWIRE as "Behind Enemy Lines". The game was featured on the internet and television alike, as was his next Major League Baseball promotion, "On Our Turf", which featured a Twins/Red Sox game at Fenway Park from the following week. Televison tapings included these games as well as high school baseball. Web coverage featured the Pro Hockey playoffs at a new site, Stanley Cup Wire, as well as the Basketball playoffs and baseball season openers.
